A historical panel at the Apopka City Center depicts Sarah Mead, who settled in the area around 1870 after emancipation and helped establish the Mead's Bottom community by assisting Black settlers with housing, supplies and farmland. The artwork complements the nearby Mead's Bottom mural by artist German Lemus.

The remains of a Timucuan dugout canoe, dating from approximately A.D. 1200 to 1500, was recovered from the muck farms of Lake Apopka in the 1990s. The remains are on display at the Apopka Museum.

The entrance to Bronson Peak at The Ridge, a Toll Brothers community off Boy Scout Road in Apopka. On Wednesday, the Development Review Committee reviewed a construction site plan for The Ridge Planned Development Parcel 9, a proposed 41-home subdivision, and requested additional engineering clarifications before staff could recommend approval.
