Hello Folks,  

Last month was the hottest month on record, across the lower 48 states! The record was set in 1936 back when we had the Dust Bowl. All I’m sayin’ is… it’s hot! And the whole month of August is gonna be real hot. Please make sure you have plenty of water and Gatorade if you plan on fishin’ or just bein’ on the water.  

My buddy was out over the weekend, and he said the water temperature was pretty blasted warm. The water in our area is low as well. So, be careful if you’re in your boat; keep a keen eye out for submerged stumps, sandbars, and trees! Lower units aren’t gettin’ any cheaper!  

We’ve been gettin’ a little rain here lately, but we definitely need a good bit more to bring up our water levels. Some areas of the state are gettin’ more rain than we are, so they’re actually seein’ some of the water levels come up in their particular area of the state.  

The fishin’ on Lake Fairview is still doin’ pretty good. The Maitland Chain of Lakes teams that fish on Lake Fairview every Wednesday night have also been doin’ well. Congrats to the team of Noah and Denzel on their win. They brought three bass to the scales that weighed in at 11.80 pounds, and they also had Big Bass for the night with a 4.40 pounder.  

The folks are still fishin’ at night out at Johns Lake east of Clermont. At the Wednesday Night Shootout this past week, there were 18 boats that fished that tournament. Congrats to the team of Leo Saratt and Donnie Lease on their win. They brought three bass to the scales that weighed in at 10.10 pounds. Big Bass for the night was caught by the team of Adam Eddington and Uby Roseal. Their Big Bass weighed in at 4.75 pounds.  

The bass fishin’ on the Harris Chain has slowed down a little. The Bass Trackers held their monthly tournament fishin’ out of Buzzard Beach on Lake Eustis. They decided to allow each angler to bring three bass to the scales due to the hot weather and warm water. They wanted the fish to be able to live to fight another day! Congrats to Damon Riggins on his win for the day. Damon had three bass that hit the scales at 8.15 pounds. Damon also had Big Bass for the day that weighed in at 4.30 pounds. Congrats to all of the anglers that endured a very hot day on the water.  

Folks are still gettin’ out early in the mornin’ (at the crack of dawn!) and catchin’ plenty of shellcrackers in Lake Kissimmee. Red worms have been gettin’ ‘er done, and some folks are gettin’ their limit by 10 a.m.  

Whenever we have some rain, you need to keep an eye out for water movement. If you can find an area where the water is flowin’ into the lakes or rivers, you should be able to find some bass hangin’ around those areas. That’s what’s happenin’ in the Headwaters Lake. They’ve been gettin’ some rain… and the water is flowin’… and the bass are feedin’ in those areas!
