Hello Folks,
I’m back from vacation and I’m glad to be back. I got back just in time for Hurricane Helene. I hope and pray everyone made it through the storm and you didn’t have too much damage. Please keep our neighbors around Cedar Key and to the North of us in your thoughts and prayers. I have never seen so much damage in the mountains that we have seen this past week.
Well, the hurricane didn’t stop folks from goin’ fishin’ over the weekend. There were a couple of tournaments over the weekend and some folks decided to go fishin’.
The Cracker Boys tournament trail held a tournament on the Harris Chain over the weekend. The team of Carr and Burroughs hit the scales with 5 bass that weighed 16.30 pounds to take first place
The team of Crouse and Peters caught the big bass that weighed in at 5.03 pounds. It’s still kinda hot and the weights for this tournament were low, but I’m sure as soon as we get some cooler weather, the fishin’ will get better.
This past weekend the Xtreme Bass Series held their tournament on the Harris Chain as well. Congrats to the team of Rick Bak and Jonathan Semento on their win. They had a 5 bass limit that weighed in at 22.45 pounds.
The big bass for the day went to the team of Colbie Cagle and Braden Robinson. Their big bass weighed in at 6.64 pounds. This was the last tournament of the year for the Harris Chain Division.
I talked to Kyle at Bitter’s Bait & Tackle and he reports that a lot of folks aren’t fishin’. He is sellin’ a few minners to folks that are tryin’ to catch a few specks in Lake Monroe. They haven’t been very successful due to the high water.
The water is high in Lake Monroe and it’s high in the St. Johns River. Also due to the high water, the Butler Chain ramps are still closed. Kyle also reported that the ramp to the Conway Chain is still closed due to the high water.
The Maitland Chain ramp has been closed, but Kyle reports that the ramp to the chain is open again.
It looks like we might get some more rain this week, so you might want to check and make sure the ramps are open before you go fishin’.
I wish I had more to report about the fishin’, but sometimes it gets a little slow this time of the year.
Well, ya’ll have a great week, and I’ll see ya next week.
Tip of the week: High Water
Save a few and good luck!
