Wolf Lake Middle School welcomed a new assistant principal, who was introduced by Orange County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Barbara Jenkins at the August 23 Orange County School Board meeting at the Ronald Blocker Educational Leadership Center in Orlando.

Natasha Pender, 35, of Ocoee, replaced Travis Diesel, who moved to Ocoee High School as its new assistant principal.

The Wolf Lake Middle School assistant principal position is Pender’s first administrative job in her career. For the past 12 years, she has been employed with the Orange County Public Schools (OCPS), and before that, worked for one year at the Leon County Public Schools in Tallahassee.

Pender has been looking forward to working in Wolf Lake Middle School and the Apopka communities, both of which she said she heard are wonderful.

According to Pender, Principal Caroll Grimando, the faculty and staff have been showing her the ropes, called the students “great” and the parents have been supportive.

Pender taught first and fifth grades, and sixth grade math. She has been a math coach, STEM coach, instruction coach, as well as being the faculty advisor for extracurricular clubs.
