Hello Folks,

In case you haven’t noticed, summer has arrived in Florida. The days are gettin’ warmer and the temps are goin’ up. We are just in the second week of June and we have July, August and September to go. The good news is that the fishin’ has been good even with some of our lakes bein’ kinda low. It’s really dry and we could use some more rain to help our lakes.

Folks are catchin’ some bluegills and shellcrackers in Lake Monroe and Lake Jesup. The water is really low in Lake Monroe and you need to be careful as you fish the lake.

The bass fishin’ in the St. John’s river has been good even through the water is low. You need to fish the shell-beds in the river and the deeper cuts in the river, where the water is deeper.

Mark at Big Toho B&T reports that the folks in his area are catchin’ some bluegills and shellcrackers off the shell-beds in West Lake Toho.

The bass fishin’ has been really good on the lake and the Kissimmee Chain. It took 26 lbs. to win last weekend’s tournament, on West Lake.

Lake Kissimmee has been fishin’ really good for bass as of late. It took over 28 lbs to win the Help our Heros tournament last weekend. The team of Levi Brown and Matt Hinman won a check for $6,000 dollars. The big bass of the tournament was a 10.14 pounder caught by the team of Joey Thigpen and Jimmy Haynes.

Kyle at Bitter’s B&T reports that the folks in his area are catchin’ a few bluegills and shellcrackers on red worms and crickets. He reports low water in most of the lakes in his area and the bigger lakes as well. So again, please be careful on the water. Kyle also reports that the bass fishin’’ has been pretty good in the Butler Chain, and the Maitland Chain. You can catch lots of smaller bass in both chains. You can fish the shoreline early in the mornin’, but once the sun gets up, you need to move to deeper water and fish the submerged hydrilla grass patches. The Harris Chain has been fishin’ pretty good as of late. I fished the Harris Chain this week with Rick and his brother-in-law Greg from Kentucky. I think that between the two boats we caught and released 12 to 15 bass. The biggest bass was caught by Greg, and it weighed just over 3 lbs.

If you have been wantin’ to fish in Florida and you didn’t have time to get a fishin’ license, well your wait is over. This comin’ weekend you can go fishin’ and you don’t have to have a license. That’s on Saturday, June 12, and Sunday, June 13, you can go fishin’ without a license. So get the family, get on the water and catch some fish.

Well that’s it for this week. I do hope you get a chance to do some fishin’ this week and I’ll see ya next week.

Tip of the week: No fishin’ license this weekend.

SAVE A FEW AND GOOD LUCK
