Apopka’s fourth Publix greeted guests with a balloon arch and a giant shopping cart parked outside at its Thursday morning grand opening in The Shoppes at East Shore.
“As our city continues to grow, this will be a highly trafficked store,” said Mayor Nick Nesta. “It’s actually going to pull people from outside the city into the city as well, which is going to be great, so it’s going to pull people from Ocoee to here. It’s going to be a more convenient spot for them, so it helps our city in that capacity.”
Publix, located at 2411 Ocoee Apopka Road, opened at 7 a.m. Team members greeted guests with free samples of pretzel ice cream, ham, and pineapple, as they wandered through the aisles.
“This is the closest Publix to where I live,” said shopper Eric Mock. “There’s a lot of activity going on, but it’s a beautiful grocery store. It’s the new design, I guess, because the Publix that we’ve been going to doesn’t have the balcony, and the layout’s a little bit different. So yeah, it’s very, very nice.”
Publix is open 7 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.
