Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone

2121

Hello Folks,

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I hope you get a chance to spend some time with your family and friends, over the holidays. I don’t know where the time has gone this year, but Christmas seems to get here faster each year.

I wish you and your family a healthy great year in 2022. We all have been challenged for the past couple of years, so here’s lookin’ at a better year next year.

We had some cooler weather this week but it will warm back up for Christmas. Hopefully, the cooler weather will get the specks to really start bitin’. Folks are still catchin’ specks in Lake Monroe and Lake Jesup. You can still catch some specks under the State Road 417 bridge in Lake Jesup.

The specks in Lake Monroe are still bitin’ pretty good. Most of the specks are bein’ caught throughout the lake and are bein’ caught on minners. You can still catch a few specks in on jigs tipped with a minner.

My neighbor John and his nephew Chet are catchin’ a few nice specks in Lake Monroe. John reports that the bite was a little slow last week, but the specks they did catch were nice ones. So, with some cooler weather, the speck fishin’ should pick back up the next couple of weeks.

The bass fishin’ is a little slow or should I say it’s hit or miss. One day can really be good and the next day it can be a little slow. We have these cold fronts comin’ through this time of the year and that can make the bass fishin’ a little more of a challenge. However, a bad day on the water is still better than a good day at work.

The bass fishin’ on the Butler Chain is still doin’ good if you want to catch numbers. Lots of baitfish throughout the chain and that’s got the bass schoolin’ in most of the lakes. If you fish the Butler Chain, make sure you have a lipless crank-bait tied on to one of your rods. The bass will come up and feed on the baitfish for a short time and then it’s over. Lake Butler and Lake Tibet have been the best lakes in the chain as of late.

I’m fishin’ the Harris Chain soon and takin’ my neighbor Dave, so, hopefully, we will catch some fish. This is the first time fishin’ together and I hope Dave can catch a few bass. You always want folks to catch some bass when you take ’em fishin’.

Well, that’s it for this week. I will be out of town after Christmas and won’t be back until next year. Again, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of y’all.

Tip of the week: go fishin’.

Save a few and good luck!
