Central Florida Prep is entering a new era of athletics as the Apopka private school prepares to host the first home basketball game in its high school program’s history while celebrating a successful fall volleyball season.

The inaugural Central Florida Prep high school basketball season begins with a home opener against Apopka Christian Academy at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, inside the Robert A. Flanders Athletic & Performing Arts Center.

Head coach Mark Washington said the program’s first season will be a gradual process as the school builds its schedule and establishes its place in local athletics.

“It’s the inaugural season so it will be a ‘gradual build’ to fill out the schedule in year 1, but the future is certainly bright as we continue to expand, develop and grow in the days, weeks, months, and years to come,” Washington said.

The opening game follows the recent ribbon-cutting ceremony for the school’s gymnasium, a milestone Washington said has generated excitement throughout the Central Florida Prep community.

“This has been a long time coming and exciting times,” Washington said. “The gym just had its ribbon cutting last month and the students, families, staff and Central Florida Prep community are extremely excited to usher in this new era of CFP athletics.”

Washington will lead the team alongside assistant coaches Quantary Roberson and Dannie Moore. Athletic director Steve Mazzilli oversees the school’s athletic programs.

The inaugural roster includes Adriel Arias Milord, Aaron Lu, Christian Padro, Coa Le, Croix Nelthropp, Isaac Powell, Jayden Nix-Knight, Kingston Stong, Marc Lenart and Nathan Karcher.

The preliminary schedule features five home games, with additional contests still being added. After opening against Apopka Christian Academy, CFP will host Glad Tidings Academy on Nov. 12 at 5 p.m. and Cristo Rey High School on Dec. 1 at 5:30 p.m.

The team will face Apopka Christian Academy again Dec. 3 at 6:15 p.m. before closing its currently scheduled slate against Glad Tidings Academy on Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. The schedule remains subject to change as the program adds games.

While the high school basketball program prepares for its debut, CFP’s volleyball teams have already established a strong foundation across the school’s athletic program.

Central Florida Prep fielded six volleyball teams during the 2026 fall season, competing in the Conrad Academy league, MetroWest league and UACL. Four teams captured league championships, including three undefeated squads.

The junior varsity team won the UACL championship after finishing third in regular-season league play. The team advanced through the postseason to claim the title, with Soleil Arana earning tournament MVP honors.

The middle school Maroon team, representing grades seven and eight, also won a UACL championship. The team entered the playoffs as the No. 1 seed with a 7-1 record and finished its postseason run as league champion. Aubrey Cruz earned middle school tournament MVP honors.

The school’s fifth- and sixth-grade Maroon team went undefeated to win the MetroWest league championship, while the fifth- and sixth-grade Navy team completed an undefeated season and captured the Conrad Academy league title.

The youngest group, the second- through fourth-grade team, also went undefeated during the regular season before finishing as the Conrad Academy league runner-up.

CFP’s middle school Navy team, also made up of seventh- and eighth-graders, reached the UACL playoffs and competed in the third-place game.

The volleyball results provide an early measure of the school’s developing athletic program as it continues to expand opportunities for students across grade levels.

In addition to boys and girls basketball, Central Florida Prep offers boys and girls soccer in the spring, winter cheerleading and cross country, alongside its middle school sports programs.

Central Florida Prep is a private prekindergarten-through-12th-grade school based in Apopka. For more information about the school or to schedule a tour, visit cfprep.org.
