Key Points

The Apopka High School Special Olympics team brought home medals from the Special Olympics Florida Area 6 Cornhole Tournament on Sunday, Sept. 27, in St. Cloud.

Coached by longtime Blue Darter PA announcer Steve Schwarze, the Apopka team was represented by Mydis Rollins, Orvin Herrera, Omari Perez and Ryder Cassady. Each athlete received a medal following the tournament.

The team will have another opportunity to compete Oct. 10, when Apopka High School Special Olympics athletes travel to Vero Beach for the Regional Games.

The program will also have athletes competing in cornhole at ESPN Wide World of Sports in November. Athletes for that event will be selected by Special Olympics Florida.
