Tourney held on The Harris Chain, folks catchin’ their limit of panfish

Hello Folks,

I hope you had a great weekend and, hopefully, you got to do some fishin’.
There was lots of activity on The Harris Chain over the weekend. Major League Fishing held their Toyota Series tournament over three days last week on March 27th through the 29th. There were more than 150 boats in the tournament so if you were on the chain, no doubt you experienced a lot of boat traffic.
Dylan Quilatan, who is just 17 years old and a senior in high school, won the tournament. He weighed in 83lbs. 8oz. of bass over three days. He also had the biggest bag on Day 2 of the tournament which hit the scales at 33lbs. 6ozs. Dylan becomes the second youngest angler to win a Toyota Series event. Dylan pocketed $39,055.00 dollars for his win. Congrats to you, Dylan, on your win. Comin’ in second place was Bobby Bakewell. Bob- by drove all the way from Texas overnight to get here to fish The BassMaster Classic. He was able to practice for one day prior to the tournament, and over the three days of competition, he brought 70lbs. 10ozs to the scales.
Another angler from Central Florida who finished in 6th place was John Kremer. You might remember John who is no stranger to bass fishin’ tournaments here in Florida. He has won his share of money over the years, and he is a big stick to contend with in any tournament he fishes. Well this past week, my fishin’ buddy Rick Mull- ins wrapped up his week of fishin’ with his brother-in- law Greg Fugate from Kentucky. They had some real good days on the water and were able to catch fish every day. Their best day where they caught the most fish was on The Butler Chain. Rick said that they caught over 20 bass. Most of their bass were caught on plastic worms and slow sinkin’ Senko’ s. They had lots of fun fishin’ John’ s Lake, The Butler Chain, and The Harris Chain. Greg had such a good time he’ s comin back in June for another week of bass fishin’!
If you want to catch some panfish, I suggest goin’ to Lake Kissimmee. Folks are catchin’ their lim- its of bluegills and shell- crackers in the pads. Most of the panfish are bein’ caught on red worms, crickets, and grass-shrimp.
Folks have been repor- tin’ that they are catchin’ their limits by 10 in the mornin’, so now would be a great time to go pan fishin’.
We have a full moon comin’ up on the 12th of April, so if there are any bluegills or shellcrackers that need to go on the beds, that would be a good time for YOU to go fishin’ for panfish.
Well, that’s it for this week, folks. I hope you get a chance to do some fishin’ this week or over the week- end. The weather is still pretty good now, and we’ll have some good weather left before we get into our hot summer days.
See ya’ next week.
Tip of the week: Go Fishin’!

SAVE A FEW AND GOOD LUCK!
