An alligator suns itself on a bank along the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive that is open each Friday through Sunday and on federal holidays. The gate to the free, 11-mile, one-way drive opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 3 p.m. is located at 2850 Lust Rd., Apopka. The exit gate on Jones Avenue in Zellwood closes at 5 p.m. each day. The drive is managed by the St. Johns River Water Management District.
