Members of the Apopka High School Special Olympics team participated in the Special Olympics Florida Summer Games Friday, May 20, and Saturday, May 21, at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports. Brian Morris, picture at the left, won the silver medal in the 100-meter walk and, in the picture at the right, the gold medal in the 4×100-meter relay was won by the team of, (l-r), David Brabham III, Shemar Merriweather, Austin Koch, and Melanie Beabey. Steve Schwarze is the coach/leader of the Special Olympics program at AHS.
