Rain needed, but fish still biting on area waterways

61

Hello Folks,
We need some rain, so hopefully, we will get some this week. The water at the ramps is gettin’ kinda low, and some rain will help out that situation. The fishin’ is still doin’ pretty good. I’m gettin’ some good reports from The Kissimmee Chain. Folks are catchin’ limits of bluegills and shellcrackers in the pads. Most of those panfish are bein’ caught on red worms, crickets, and grass shrimp. The bass fishin’ has been good as well. My buddy Rick and his brother-in-law Greg from Kentucky are fishin’ their annual week of bass fishin’. They have been catchin’ some nice bass on The Harris Chain. They caught three six-pounders fishin’ around the offshore grass. Most of those bass were caught on plastic worms and Senko’s. They fished The Butler Chain and caught 15 bass on plastic worms this week. Most of the bass that they caught were keeper-sized bass. They didn’t catch any biggins. They are back on The Harris Chain and then on to John’s Lake later in the week. Folks, I hope you had a chance to watch The Bassmaster Classic that was held last week and over the weekend at Lake Ray Roberts in Texas. Congratulations to Easton Fothergill, who is just 22 years old, who won the Classic Easton weighed in 15 bass over three days, hitting the scales a 76 lbs. —15 ounces. Easton also took home 300,000.00 dollars for his win. He also took home another 8,000.00 dollars in bonus money. Easton came up through the college ranks and qualified himself for the Classic. Also, weeks after Easton had brain surgery in August of 2023, he won the 2023 Bassmaster college bracket. Easton has had a great career in Bassmaster in just a few years, and he is lookin’ forward to goin’ to Knoxville, TN. next year to defend his title. I also want to congratulate John Cox from Debary, FL. on his 6th place finish in the Classic.  John weighed in 56 lbs. —5 ounces and won 22,500.00 dollars. Also, a shout-out to Bobby Bakewell from Orlando, FL. Bobby fished his very first Classic and finished in 32nd. place and took home 10,000.00 dollars. Bobby’s finish out of 56 anglers was a great showin’ for his very first Classic. I’m sure he is ready to get back on that stage again real soon.
