Person of interest sought for deadly shooting in Apopka

Sheriff’s deputies are asking the public for help in finding a person of interest involved in a deadly shooting in Apopka.

On Tuesday, December 15, at approximately 7:33 p.m., Orange County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1200 block of Hermit Smith Road in Apopka in reference to numerous 911 calls reporting shots in the immediate area.  

Upon arrival, deputies observed the victim, James Harris, who had been shot. Harris later succumbed from his injuries.

The person of interest is a Black male who is approximately 5’6 tall and weighs 140 lbs.
