Earth Month 2025 is packed with celebrations, classes

Orange County will celebrate Earth Month throughout April to honor the planet, including several activities planned for Apopka.
Earth Month 2025 events and activities allow people opportunities to learn more about and adopt more eco-friendly habits as well as emphasize the countywide conservation and environmental efforts.
Scheduled activities include Earth Day celebrations, eco-tours and Adopt-A-Tree. University of Florida Orange County Extension Office (UF/IFAS) is offering various classes and workshops where attendees can learn various skills such as vegetable gardening, how to grow oyster mushrooms and farming backyard chickens.
In Apopka, two Earth Month events will take place, both at Magnolia Park. Alligator Arts and Crafts 11 a.m.-3 p.m. from April 20 to 26. Then there will be an Earth Day celebration 11-11:45 a.m. on April 22. On the earth day celebration, attendees will take a walking tour around Lake Apopka and learn about the natural habitat that surrounds the lake.
“This April, we’re not just celebrating Earth Day,” Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings said in a video on the Orange County Earth Month web page. “We’re dedicating the entire month to educating our community about the vital work Orange County is doing to preserve and conserve our natural resources. By working together, we can ensure Orange County continues to be a vibrant, healthy and thriving place for all residents to live, work and visit.”
For Earth Month, Demings recommended that people find new means of transportation with the county’s various initiatives, such as the Accelerated Transportation Safety Program, Vision Zero, micro mobility and more we are expanding the transportation options available to our residents.
“These options take cars off of our roads while making our communities safer and more sustainable,” Demings said.
