Miss Florida 2016 Courtney Sexton, who recently represented the state of Florida in the Miss America Pageant, will emcee the 2016 Miss Apopka Scholarship Pageant scheduled for Saturday, December 3, at the Wekiva High School auditorium.

As a Miss Florida contestant, Sexton has won over $22,000 in scholarship awards, which she is currently using as a second year graduate at the University of Central Florida, majoring in health administration.

After obtaining her master’s degree, Sexton hopes to work as a health administrator in a children’s hospital. She is a state ambassador for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals as well as a national spokesperson for the Everglades Foundation, advocating the protection and restoration of America’s Everglades.

The 2016 Miss Apopka Scholarship Pageant is seeking contestants, women ages between 17-24, to compete to represent the city of Apopka in the 2017 Miss Florida Pageant next June.

Competition phases include the judges’ interview, talent portion, and poise on stage in the evening gown and swimsuit segments.

Each contestant will be asked to make a donation to the Children’s Miracle Network, a charity deeply involved with the Miss America Foundation.
