Troopers were on the scene of a fatal crash that occurred at approximately 5:36 a.m. on Friday, June 28, in Zellwood, according to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
Preliminary evidence shows vehicle one, a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, was traveling westbound on Jones Avenue west of Jewel Foliage Road.
Vehicle two, a 1985 dump truck, was traveling westbound on Jones Avenue west of Jewel Foliage Road ahead of vehicle one. The Chevrolet Silverado driver failed to slow or stop for the truck driver ahead. As a result, the front of the Silverado struck the rear of the truck.
The Silverado driver, a 30-year-old male from Astatula, was transported to AdventHealth Apopka Hospital and pronounced deceased. The truck driver, a 38-year-old male from Eustis, was not injured.
There was roadblock this morning for both directions of travel on Jones Avenue.
This crash remains under investigation. FHP Further information will be provided once obtained.
