A red-winged blackbird calls out recently while perched on a cattail along the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive. The drive is open each Friday through Sunday and federal holidays with the entrance gate at 2850 Lust Rd., Apopka, open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entrance to the 11-mile, one-way drive is free, and the exit gate on Jones Avenue in Zellwood closes at 5 p.m.
