Apopka-based JK2 Construction won an award for its work on the NBC Media Lab at Universal Studios Florida, according to the construction company’s Tuesday, October 11, press release.

The Eagle Award was given by the Central Florida Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, which recognizes outstanding projects built each year with this honor. JK2 Construction, one of the divisions of the family-owned JK2 Construction & Scenic, served as the general contractor on the project.

“JK2 Construction has been part of Central Florida’s construction industry for nearly 30 years,” said Paul Holmes, JK2’s president and founder. “It’s always an honor to be recognized as the best among our outstanding peers.”

As part of the NBC Media Lab project, JK2 oversaw selective demolition of existing structures, as well as new construction and the complete interior renovation of an existing structure.
When complete, the 6,588-square-foot building retained the original exterior appearance of The Garden of Allah hotel and villas in Hollywood, but the interior included clean, high-tech finishes needed for the lab’s operation.

This is not the first time JK2 Construction & Scenic has been honored for its work. The company has received multiple Eagle Awards, and this year, it was named a Florida Company to Watch and a Gator100 honoree for its outstanding growth.
