Hope CommUnity Center held the grand opening of its community food pantry, a new resource to support local families in need. The pantry will serve as an emergency food source for those facing food insecurity.
The celebration took place, past press time, on Thursday, January 16, at the nonprofit’s south campus on South Hawthorne Avenue.
The community food pantry is a partnership between Second Harvest Food Bank and Hope CommUnity Center.
“Guided by our slogan ‘Filled with Hope,’ we want to ensure that every individual has access to food in a welcoming and supportive environment. This initiative represents a significant step forward in our mission to strengthen our community through compassion and care,” said a Hope CommUnity Center press statement announcing the grand opening.
The pantry will operate on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1016 N. Park Ave., Apopka, and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 800 S. Hawthorne Ave. Apopka, offering non-perishable goods, and other essentials to families in need.
