Pet Care Center of Apopka staff understands that a pet isn’t just an animal, it’s your furry family member that needs lots of love and attention while you’re away. Pet Care Center of Apopka is conveniently located at 2807 North Rock Springs Road, near Rock Springs Elementary School. Pictured above are some happy vacationing dogs.

More than 40 years ago, Dr. Kent Greer, a second-generation veterinarian, was a young veterinary graduate who decided to build what was to become a new concept in veterinary hospitals for Central Florida. Drawing on the example of his father’s practice, he opened his first veterinary hospital in 1985.  This facility then offered in-house diagnostics with the very first IDEXX blood machines in the United States.  Annie came on board as an animal behaviorist, and Annie and Dr. Kent married in 1996.

In 2003 they saw an opportunity to create a unique, luxury pet resort, which is combined with their advanced medical services. PET CARE CENTER OF APOPKA was built.  They converted a family residence and added a $1.5-million state-of–the-art boarding facility that retained the integrity of the beautiful six acres of woodland and grasslands on the property.  Then they added a 35 x 24 ft swimming pool especially designed for dogs and their safety.

In these lingering times of Covid, all health precautions are routinely taken. With the space granted, the public is still able to wait inside and have face-to-face conversations with the doctor and staff.  There is no waiting in the parking lot in a car.  Deep cleaning is a given, and all staff and clients fell safe.

“We are now seeing an influx of new clients (eligible for a free exam) and many second opinions and certainly the case load of surgeries that are non-elective have increased exponentially,” noted Annie Greer.

In today’s corporate takeover of veterinary medicine, experienced veterinarians capable of handling cruciate ligament surgeries, soft palate reconstruction and other serious conditions are simply not available, and the specialty practices are very often prohibitively expensive.  Dr. Greer, who is valued for his 40 years of surgical experience, and he is always happy to explain in length the procedure your dog may, or may not-need.

Come meet their staff and take a tour of one of the finest luxury pet resorts in the area.  While you’re away you’ll know your pet will be getting personalized care, just like you would give.
