Love is in the air this February – and Goodwill Industries of Central Florida is celebrating with a special donor appreciation event.

On Saturday, February 17, the nonprofit will host “Thrift Love” to express gratitude to donors for their role in the mission of “Building Lives that Work.”

While supplies last, community members who make a donation at their local Goodwill retail store (9 a.m. – 9 p.m.) or Donation Xpress location (8 a.m.-7 p.m.) will receive a coupon for $5 off a $30 purchase to be used within two weeks from the donation. The Apopka Goodwill location’s address is 1312 E. Semoran Blvd.

Donations of shoes, sneakers, clothes, housewares and small appliances are strongly encouraged. Discount coupons are not redeemable at Goodwill Outlet Store locations.

Donations play a key role in providing resources and jobs to Central Floridians. Revenue generated through sales of gently used items fund the organization’s employment placement and job skills training services, as well as its vocational rehabilitation program.

For 65 years, Goodwill Industries of Central Florida has provided vocational and job placement services to tens of thousands of people living in Central Florida. Through 31 retail/outlet stores and 16 Donation Xpress locations in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Brevard, Lake and Volusia counties, Goodwill diverted nearly 24 million pounds of clothing and household items from landfills in 2023.

The Apopka Chief and The Planter are weekly community newspapers, independently owned and family operated, that have served the greater Apopka area in Central Florida since 1923 and 1965 respectively.
