Florida Hospital Apopka gave Quest, Inc. a surprising yet special gift on Tuesday, February 14 – a check for $10,000 that will go toward Quest’s program Camp Thunderbird, located off East Welch Road in Apopka.

The hospital presented the check to Quest at Camp Thunderbird after the staff of both organizations toured the campsite. In turn, Quest gave Florida Hospital Apopka a plaque showing gratitude for their support and commitment.

This November, Florida Hospital Apopka will open its newly relocated 70-acre campus at Ocoee-Apopka Road and Harmon Road with a seven-story, 600,000-square-foot hospital building, a 200,000-square-foot medical office building, 120 private patient rooms, additional surgical services, an expanded Women’s Center, and more.

Quest supports Central Floridians with developmental disabilities through services and programs allowing them to live, work and play at places such as Camp Thunderbird. The camp was begun in 1969 with 19 acres. Eventually, Camp Thunderbird grew into 45-acres that serves about 500 guests, both adults and children, each year. This year, the camp will offer seven summer sessions and one winter session.

Quest will use the money for facility upgrades and scholarships to assist guests needing financial aid, among its expenses.

The Apopka Chief will have an expanded story on page 1B of the Friday, February 17, print edition.
