Orange County Public Schools’ (OCPS) FAFSA Help Session will come to Apopka High School, 555 Martin St., Apopka, on Saturday, March 11, 9 a.m.-noon during OCPS Parent Academy.

That Saturday’s Parent Academy theme is “Many Directions, Many Choices: Creating a Path to College and Career Readiness.” The academy itself will run from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

At the FAFSA Help Session, experts can help students and parents fill out their FAFSA, which stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

Part of the U.S. Department of Education, federal student aid is responsible for managing the student financial assistance programs authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965. These programs provide grants, loans, and work-study funds to students attending college or career school, according to the website www.studentaid.ed.gov.

Items to bring to an FAFSA Help Session are social security number, alien registration number (for those who are not a U.S. citizen), 2015 federal income tax returns, email account, and an FSA ID, which must be created online at fsaid.ed.gov.

In most cases parents and students must have all the aforementioned documents.
