The city has scheduled a Thursday, September 15, evening reception to honor the several Apopka City Hall artists whose works were displayed in the building’s lobby over the course of 2-1/2 years and thus beautified the building. The public is invited to attend.

An Evening with the Artists will include presentations from each invited artist on his or her favorite art piece and will include complimentary wine, cheese, and hors d’oeuvres. The time is 5:30-7 p.m.

The event is meant to recognize the artists who exhibited their artwork at City Hall and show gratitude to them for making it successful, according to Betty Ann Huntsman, Apopka resident and City Hall art coordinator.

Wine will be distributed via a ticket system upon arrival. Each adult will get two tickets that are redeemable for two glasses of wine.

Florida Community Bank Apopka is the local sponsor of the event.

At their August 17 meeting, the City Council gave the go-head to the serving of wine and cheese at An Evening with the Artists.

In September 2014, the City Council adopted an ordinance requiring the governing body’s approval for the sale, consumption and carrying of alcoholic beverages on city-owned property during events or programs.
