Charlie Daniels shows no signs of slowing down

With everything he has accomplished during his 50 years in the music business, country music legend Charlie Daniels is not slowing down.

Between the release of his latest album “Night Hawk” last August, his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame on October 16, 2016, and celebrating his 80th birthday on October 28 that same year, 2016 was noteworthy for Daniels.

Those turning points in his career are on top of the 100-plus shows his band, the Charlie Daniels Band (CDB), performed last year especially those at the Grand Ole Opry.

This month, the band kicked off its 2017 tour that includes playing at the Apopka Amphitheater on Friday, March 17, at 7 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m., and parking is free.

Special guests are Spayed Koolie and Scooter Brown Band. The concert is in support of One Team One Fight 4 PTSD (www.oneteamonefightptsd.org).

Given all of the career accomplishments marked by top 10 hits and Country Music Association, Grammy and Dove awards, Daniels said when he first started out, he didn’t foresee his career to look the way it does nowadays.

“You constantly change,” he said during a telephone interview. “I wanted to move to Nashville and be a part of the Nashville music scene. There is constantly something else you want to accomplish. I had no idea that I would ever be in the Country Music Hall of Fame, (play at) the Grand Ole Opry (or have) all these other wonderful accolades I was presented with over the years.”
