An Apopka Memorial Middle School teacher was arrested on Friday, October 28, off campus and charged with multiple offenses in violation with Florida state statute.

Alyson Nicole London, 44, a physical education teacher, was charged with the following: solicitation to commit sexual battery, failing to report child sexual abuse as a mandatory reporter, attempted interference with custody, unlawful use of a two-way communication device, transmission of material harmful to minors, and contributing to the delinquency or dependency of a minor.

Those charges were developed after a thorough investigation, based on a complaint through the Department of Children and Families (DCF), according to a media release from the Apopka Police Department.

The relationship between the student and London occurred last year, when the student was attending Apopka Memorial Middle School. She is now attending Apopka High School.

According to the APD report, the victim’s mother expressed concern she had the previous school year about her daughter communicating with London outside of school.

The victim was using an iPod for communication and did not have a cell phone, with messaging done through the social media apps SnapChat and Kik. According to London in her police interview, someone else had hacked into her app accounts to communicate with the victim.

As late as September 27, the victim was communicating with London through messaging, according to the police report.

Through separate police interviews, both the victim and London denied they were in a personal, private, or sexual relationship with each other, and that their relationship was one of mentorship. London said in her police interview that she had never touch the victim in a sexual manner.

The investigation discovered that London was told multiple times by the victim that she was addicted to drugs and alcohol and had been raped on several occasions. What’s more, London was also aware that the victim claimed to be beaten at home by her mother. Police said London should have reported what she had known to DCF.

The charges were forwarded to the 9th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office.

AMMS Principal Kelly Pelletier issued a voice mail message to parents about the arrest. In the message, Pelletier will be able to answer any parents’ questions on Monday, October 31.

London has been transported to the Orange County jail for processing.
