Apopka Human Resources Director Joseph Patton has resigned, city Public Information Director Steve Montiero confirmed Thursday.
“The City of Apopka appreciates Dr. Joseph Patton’s years of service and contributions to our organization,” Montiero said in an emailed statement. “Dr. Patton recently submitted his resignation and we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”
Montiero did not specify when Patton submitted his resignation, its effective date or the reason for his departure.
“The City remains focused on moving forward and ensuring continuity within our Human Resources Department,” Montiero said. “We anticipate announcing a new Human Resources Director in the very near future.”
Patton had served as the city’s human resources director since at least 2021.
His resignation comes about a month after Mayor Nick Nesta dismissed Interim City Administrator Radley Williams and Finance Director Blanche Sherman. Nesta presented a new City Hall organizational structure at a Sept. 28 town hall.
Patton did not immediately respond to a voicemail requesting comment Thursday.
This is a developing story. The Apopka Chief will update this report as additional information becomes available.
