Following over a year of construction, the long-awaited Winn-Dixie has opened its doors as the supermarket chain’s second Apopka location at the Apopka City Center.

The ribbon cutting took place on the supermarket’s grounds at 611 E. Main St. on Wednesday, August 16.

Boasting 47,647 square feet, this Winn-Dixie location will offer new concepts with extensive offerings in several of its departments. Among them are emphasis on fresh food such as fruits, vegetables, seafood, and meat; a wide Hispanic product selection throughout the store, as well as tortillas made fresh on site daily; a new glass-walled liquor store; and the brand-new Celebrations by Party City concept to serve as a one-stop shop for party essentials.

Winn-Dixie is the latest addition to the 34-acre multi-phased Apopka City Center, located at the S.R. 441/Main Street and S.R. 436 interchange in downtown Apopka. The shopping and dining hub already has historic Highland Manor, the 118-room Hilton Garden Inn and the Rinat Halon Photography studio.

A food hall and brewery, Miller’s Ale House, more retailers and a 190-unit apartment complex are slated to come to the City Center.

The one other Winn-Dixie in Apopka is located at Errol Plaza on West Orange Blossom Trail.

Photos and an extended story will appear in the Friday, August 18, issue of The Apopka Chief.
