Due to the previous storm, Hurricane Helene, yard waste has been much heavier than normal. The yard waste pickup schedule is behind. Therefore, the city of Apopka is starting the Thursday route today, Monday, October 7.
This means that these residents have not had a pickup since Helene and will be the city’s top priority prior to the arrival of Hurricane Milton. Yard waste pickups will continue to be delayed until further notice.
Despite all efforts, the city said it cannot guarantee that it can even complete the Thursday pickups, so at this point residents should plan to remove yard waste and bulky from the curb if possible or take the debris to one of the local landfills.
Below, the city gives the locations and phone numbers for local landfills. The city recommends that residents call prior to going to verify operating hours.
