After completing inspections and cleanup, the St. Johns River Water Management District’s Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive reopens on Monday, October 10.

As of Sunday, October 9, the nonmotorized Lake Apopka Loop Trail had remain closed as land managers continue cleanup efforts in the wake of Hurricane Matthew.

The Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive is a one-way, 11-mile drive meandering through the eastern portion of the property. The drive is open Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and federal holidays between sunrise and sunset.

District land managers continue inspections and cleanup of thousands of acres of district lands to make them safe and accessible for public recreation. To check the status of public access to district lands, visit the district’s website at www.sjrwmd.com.
