State launches text notification pilot program for Wekiwa Springs State Park

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Florida Park Service has launched a text notification pilot program for Wekiwa Springs State Park and eight other state parks.

By subscribing to the text notifications, visitors will receive alerts about the park which may include special event details, discounts or promotions as well as weather alerts and notifications when the park reaches capacity or reopens when capacity is available.

To sign up for text notifications at Wekiwa Springs State Park, text “wekiwa” to 51660. Those who would like to receive text notifications for other state parks can view the full list of parks with subscription details.

In fiscal year 2015-16, Wekiwa Springs State Park welcomed 403,778 visitors. Located at the headwaters of the Wekiva River, the park offers visitors the opportunity to relax in a natural setting, enjoy a picnic or take a swim in the cool spring. More than 13 miles of trails provide multiple opportunities for hiking, biking and horseback riding, as well as opportunities for paddling along the Wekiva River and Rock Springs Run.
