Hello Folks,

I hope you are havin’ a great week. The weather has been pretty good and the fishin’ hasn’t been too bad, either.

Folks are still catchin’ some specks in Lake Monroe, Lake Jesup, and Lake Harney. Kyle at Bitter’s B&T reports that the specks are bitin’, but a lot of folks are not goin’ with the wind blowin’ like crazy. If the wind does settle down this week, we have a new moon comin’ up on Friday, the 9th, that might just trigger those ole specks to start bitin’ again.

The bass fishin’ on the Butler Chain is still doin’ good for numbers of bass. Folks are catchin’ their bass on chatter-baits, swim-jigs, and Senko type baits.

The bass fishin’ all across the state has been pretty dog-gone good. Last week BASS held their Open tournament on Lake Okeechobee. Scott Martin won the BassMaste  Open held there last week. Scott is the son of Roland Martin, and his Mom runs Roland Martin’s Marina & Resort in Clewiston.

Bass Series Elite Pro, Scott Martin, had a record three days of fishin’. On day one, Scott weighed in five bass that hit the scales at 33 pounds 3 ounces. On day two, he weighed in five bass that weighed 25 pounds, 13 ounces. On championship Saturday, Scott’s five bass hit the scales at 31 pounds 7 ounces. Scott’s three-day total weighed 90 pounds 6 ounces.

Scott set the all-time heaviest winnin’ total on a three-day tournament. Scott’s day one catch broke the record for the heaviest one-day catch in a BassMaster Open. I watched the weigh-in Saturday, and it was great to see his Mom and Dad there and to see Scott win in front of his wife and family.

If you are plannin’ to fish the Harris Chain this weekend, I want you to know there is a Big Bass Tour tournament bein’ held there Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The tournament weigh-in will be held at Hickory Point Recreational Facility on State Road 19 in Tavares.

The tournament is open to everyone, so if you would like to fish this tournament, you can go to Cabela’s Big Bass Tour and get all the information. You can fish one day, two days, or all three days of the tournament. There is $150,000 in guaranteed prizes and payouts.

You need to go online to register, because there is no onsite registration, and they do have an off-limits rule as well. The event’s off-limits time begins at 6 p.m., Thursday, prior to the event. All participants must follow the off-limits rules for the previous day before the event.

If you decide to fish this tournament, I want to wish everyone good luck, and I hope you win something durin’ those three days of fishin’.

Well, that’s all for this week. I hope you get a chance to go fishin’ this weekend. I hope to see you on the water.

Tip of the week: New Moon-Friday.

Save a few and good luck.
