A 76-year-old female pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car that an Apopka family was driving in Forest City, according to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

On Saturday, November 25, at 6:28 p.m., the family was traveling eastbound in a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan on S.R. 436 approaching Jewel Drive in the outside lane, according to an FHP report.

The pedestrian was walking south and entered the eastbound lanes of State Road 436. The pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk and entered the direct path of the Caravan. As a result, the Caravan’s front left struck the woman, the report says.

The Caravan driver, a 31-year-old man, and three passengers – a 31-year-old woman and two children ages 3 years and 3 months – were not injured and remained on scene.

The pedestrian was transported to AdventHealth Altamonte Springs and pronounced deceased.

This crash remains under investigation.
