With the deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot one month away, the Orange County Supervisor of Elections is offering voters an additional way to receive their vote-by-mail ballot.
Voters can now request their vote-by-mail ballot online, by phone, by mail, or by coming to the elections office and receiving a printed ballot in minutes. The office has set up five stations in the lobby (119 W. Kaley St., Orlando) where voters can easily request a vote-by-mail ballot in person and leave with a ballot and a return envelope. Picture and signature are required.
The deadline to request a vote-by-mail ballot in person, online, or by mail is 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 24.
“As we head into what we expect will be a very busy general election, it is important to make sure voters have every opportunity to make their voice heard,” said Orange County Supervisor of Elections Glen Gilzean. “We will still mail more than 125,000 vote-by-mail ballots to Orange County voters this fall, however, offering an additional option of receiving a ballot on demand in our lobby is a great way to ensure even more access for voters as election day draws close.”
In the 2022 general election, 214,332 Orange County voters requested a vote-by-mail ballot. As of Tuesday, September 24, 2024, the number of requests was 125,293.
Vote-by-mail requests expire after each federal general election cycle. Therefore, all vote-by-mail requests expired on December 31, 2022. To continue receiving vote-by-mail ballots, voters must submit a new request each general election cycle.
Voters are also encouraged to sign up for BallotTrax at ocfelections.gov/vote-by-mail, a free service that delivers notifications via text or email of the status of a vote-by-mail ballot.
