Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) is opening applications today for enrollment in the district’s magnet programs. As well, OCPS is hosting two upcoming magnet program fairs with an open house format for parents and students to learn more about these opportunities.
Magnet programs have been established at elementary, middle and high schools to provide an opportunity for students to engage in intensive study in specific areas. Magnets offer the opportunity for students to discover their talents and explore their interests while focusing on academic rigor.

Students who currently reside in Orange County and who are entering a grade from kindergarten through 10th in the 2017-2018 school year may apply for a magnet program seat. Students applying for kindergarten programs must be 5 years old prior to September 1.
Starting Tuesday, November 1, students can apply for placement in the magnet program at www.schoolchoice.ocps.net. If there are more applicants than the number of seats available in a specific program, students are selected through a lottery. The Office of School Choice Services in Orange County works to increase awareness among parents and community members about voluntary public school choice options in Florida. School Choice means providing parents the opportunity to be involved in selecting the school their child will attend. It also means providing services and assistance to help children receive the instruction that best meets their needs.
