I often promote the varied functions performed by Orange County Government. This column is yet another chance to share how vital the OCFL Atlas can be to you. The OCFL Atlas is a mobile and web application that encourages citizens to become more engaged in the growth of their community by pinpointing new construction projects whether they’re on the road or you see site work being done on a piece of property.
What makes the Atlas especially useful is you can access real-time development data, board meeting details about the project, and project locations. Let me give you an example. If you want to see what’s happening construction-wise near your home, the Atlas will detail the type of project. Let’s say you’ve seen workers on a road near your house and wonder exactly what’s happening. The OCFL Atlas will tell you if it’s road paving, pedestrian safety upgrades, etc.
Another highlighted feature… if a project on the OCFL Atlas is under our Development and Planning Department, you will find the name of the county Planner assigned to the project, and you can email him or her with questions. Consider this your “one stop shop” for those questions you have when you see changes occurring in your community.
Finally, you can become a registered user of the Atlas, and this will enable you to receive emails about all upcoming development in unincorporated Orange County.
How to get to there? Download OCFL Atlas on the App Store on Google Play. The desktop version can be found at: https://www.ocfl.net/Home/NewslettersAlerts/OCFLAtlas.aspx
I use mine on my cell phone and find it works very easily. I hope you do, too. If any questions, contact: gis@ocfl.net or 407.836.0066.
