Habitat for Humanity hosting Women Build kickoff at UCF Incubator

Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka is hosting its Women Build kickoff event on Wednesday, March 8, at 6 p.m. at the UCF Incubator, 325 S. McGee Ave., Apopka.

Women Build is a movement of Seminole County and greater Apopka women who combine their efforts, skills, networks and muscle to help build strength, stability and self-reliance thorugh homeownership. From fundraising to construction, this group builds or renovates multiple homes each spring.

Those who attend the March 8 kickoff can learn what Habitat has in store for this year and how they can get involved.

Juniper Bend/Arbor Bend
Habitat Seminole-Apopka, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando, Homes in Partnership and Orange County government, will build Juniper Bend and Arbor Bend, a single-family affordable housing community of 58 homes that will go up in South Apopka. Seminole-Apopka will oversee Juniper Bend, and Greater Orlando will oversee Arbor Bend.

Aspiring homeowners participating in the Juniper Bend and Arbor Bend project registered through Habitat’s homeownership program that includes sweat equity. Construction will begin later this year.

A groundbreaking ceremony for Juniper Bend/Arbor Bend has been scheduled for Thursday, March 16, 9-10 a.m. at 1221 S. Washington Ave., Apopka.
