Hello Folks,
I hope you are havin’ a great week and you are lookin’ forward to some R&R this Labor Day weekend. I’m sure it’s gonna be busy on the water, so make sure you are lookin’ out for other boats. There will be lots of folks water ski’n and pullin’ their kids on tubes, and there will be some folks fishin’ as well. Enjoy your time on the water and be safe.
Kyle at Bitter’s Bait & Tackle reports that a few folks are fishin’ for panfish and a few are tryin’ to get a jump on the specks. The first day of fall will be on September 22, 2024 and that will kick off the speckle perch season, but a few folks are lookin’ for ‘em already. I’m already lookin’ forward to some cooler weather, and I hope we get some real soon. I’m tired of bein’ hot and sweaty, ain’t you?
Congrats to the dedicated guys and gals that have continued fishin’ all summer long. The X-treme Bass Series has been fishin’ all summer long, and havin’ some pretty good results. They held a tournament on the Harris Chain last week and it took 5 bass that hit the scales at 22.84 pounds to win. The team of Kim Hebb and John Kraine won the tournament with their 20 pound plus bag. Also, in the same tournament, the team of Steve Bishop and Matt Gee caught the big bass of the tournament. Their big bass weighed in at 6.67 pounds. Folks, if you can catch a 20 pound plus bag of bass durin’ the summer, hats off to you.
Also, X-treme Bass Series held a tournament on Johns Lake last weekend. The team of Jonathan Semento and Rick Bak weighed in a limit of 5 bass that hit the scales at 15.86 pounds. They also had big bass for the tournament which weighed 4.74 pounds. Again, congrats to all the teams who have endured the heat this summer and continued fishin’ when it was so hot. You folks are truly dedicated to the sport of bass fishin’.
As you folks know, I try to keep you updated on the Trophy Catch program that the FWC runs here in the State of Florida. This is a program that gives you a chance to catch an 8-pound plus bass and receive all kinds of gift cards and a piece of paper recognizing you as a Trophy Catch Club member. There have been lots of big bass caught this summer. An 11 pound 4 ounce bass was caught in Orange Lake in August, and another big bass was caught in Orange Lake that weighed nine pounds 4 ounces. Right here in our back yard, a gentleman caught an 8-pounder in Lake Underhill.
So, if you want to join the other bass anglers out there, go to the FWC Trophy Catch website and get yourself registered. Their website is http://TrophyCatchflorida.com. That way, you can join the Trophy Catch Club and receive your certificate for your big bass.
Well, that’s it for this week. I hope to see you real soon on the water.
Tip of the week: Fall is comin’.
Save a few and good luck!
