On Friday, December 2, the city held an oath of office ceremony and badge pinning for five new firefighters at the Apopka Community Center/VFW Post 10147 Building. Pictured (l-r) are Apopka Mayor Bryan Nelson, Apopka Fire Chief Sean Wylam, Firefighter Samuel Olmedo, Firefighter David Bradley, Firefighter Matthew Kay, Firefighter Brian Lopez, City Commissioner Nick Nesta, City Commissioner Diane Velazquez, and City Commissioner Alexander H. Smith. Not pictured is Samuel Furukawa, who was unable to attend the ceremony due to an illness. According to Wylam, Furukawa will take his oath of office next week at a yet-to-be-determined date.
