Since 2020, Duke Energy has given over $200K to state’s affordable housing programs

Duke Energy Florida and its foundation is giving a total of $75,000 to three Habitat for Humanity organizations in Florida including $5,000 to Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka, Duke Energy Florida announced in a March 27 news release.
Besides the $5,000 to Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka, Duke Energy Foundation is also giving $20,000 to Habitat for Humanity Lake Sumter, and $30,000 to Habitat for Humanity Tampa Bay Gulfside. Duke Energy has also given another $20,000 to help these organizations’ operations this year.
In addition to the grants, employees will construct houses in west Orange and Citrus counties during volunteer events later this year.
“Habitat for Humanity builds homes, communities and hope,” Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president, was quoted as saying in a press release. “Supporting nonprofit organizations like Habitat for Humanity allows the company to improve the vitality of the communities we serve while making a lasting difference in the lives of individual customers.”
Since 2020, Duke Energy Foundation has given to the state’s affordable housing programs over $200,000, a portion of the $1 million in contributions and over 10,000 volunteer hours to Habitat for Humanity.
