Dollar General has started the process to build its fourth store inside Apopka’s city limits.
The company’s contractor has submitted concept plans to city staff to build a store at 57 E. Michael Gladden Blvd., at the northwest corner of Michael Gladden (Ninth Street) and Park Avenue.
Apopka’s Development Review Committee (DRC) took its first look at the plans Wednesday, March 1, in a quick meeting. The DRC is made up of city staff representatives from various departments who assess submitted applications for development projects and special events.
If the store is built on the empty lot, it will be the fourth Dollar General in Apopka. The other three are located at 1712 Rock Springs Rd., 827 E. Semoran Blvd., and 1027 W. Orange Blossom Trail. There is also one just south of the city at 3806 Ocoee-Apopka Road.
The 7,500-sq. ft. store will have an entrance and exit off both Park Avenue and Michael Gladden Boulevard.
Family Dollar previously submitted plans to build on the same site, but did not follow through. Family Dollar also has three Apopka stores and one in Zellwood.
