The city of Apopka Parks and Recreation Department will host a groundbreaking ceremony for a $500,000 skate park and pump track park, which will include a skate park area for skateboarders and skaters, and pump track area for BMX bikers.

The ceremony will take place on Friday, January 10, at 4 p.m., at the site of the new park, located just north of the Fran Carlton Center, 11 N. Forest Ave., Apopka. Parking for the ceremony will be at the Fran Carlton Center.

The new Apopka Action Sports Park is an Apopka Community Redevelopment Agency project using tax increment fund revenue from the city of Apopka and Orange County Government.

“The park will bring an exciting new amenity to the Apopka community for both the youth and adults to enjoy,” Parks and Recreation Director Radley Williams said in a news release. “Bringing a skate park to Apopka is an initiative that has been discussed over many years throughout the Apopka community and the Parks and Recreation Department is excited to be able to bring this park to life with the funding assistance and support of the Apopka Community Redevelopment Agency, City of Apopka Council, and Orange County Government.”

The parks and recreation department looked to the American Ramp Company to help with the design and construction of this new exciting park. The American Ramp Company has vast experience working for over 20 years developing skate and bike park facilities across the country, and throughout 44 countries across the world.
