City of Apopka will host Black History Month event

The city will host its Celebrating Legends of Apopka Black History Month event on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 6 -8 p.m. at the Apopka Community Center/VFW Building, 519 S. Central Ave., Apopka.

This event will include a special proclamation by Mayor Bryan Nelson, honoring of the 2024 Legends and their families, special music by Mark Wright and the Wekiva High School Chorus, and reception for all attendees.

The Apopka Chief and The Planter are weekly community newspapers, independently owned and family operated, that have served the greater Apopka area in Central Florida since 1923 and 1965 respectively.
