City administrator Edward Bass dies at age 50

City administrator Edward Bass died on Saturday, June 10, at age 50. Visitation and funeral arrangements have been made.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 16, 5-7 p.m. at Allen J. Harden Funeral Home, 1800 N. Donnelly St., Mount Dora.

Funeral service will be on Saturday, June 17, at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Apopka, 500 S. Highland Ave., Apopka.

Bass became city administrator in April 2018, when Bryan Nelson entered his first term as mayor.

Prior to returning to employment with the city of Apopka in 2018, Bass had worked for the city for 12 years – the final 10 as finance director – before resigning from the position in late 2014.

In the four-year interim Bass served as the director of resource management for Seminole County, where he managed the budget, purchasing, risk management and special assessments.

A certified public accountant, Bass began his career with the Florida Public Services Commission where he audited regulated utility companies.
