Butler chain has the best fishing

Hello Folks,

I’m in my office at home listenin’ to the rain hittin’ my house. It sounds so good. It looks like we are finally gonna get some rain this week, and I’m so thankful because we definitely need it. Hopefully it will help raise up the water levels in our lakes.

Well, the fishin’ hasn’t been too bad in most of the lakes and chains in our area. We have a full moon in a couple of weeks, so that would probably wrap up the bluegills and shellcracker season, for this year. If you want to try and catch some panfish, I would get some red worms, crickets, or some grass-shrimp and head out to East Lake or Lake Kissimmee for the best results.

The bass fishin’ has been hit or miss in most of the chains and lakes in our area. The best bass fishin’ has been in the Butler Chain. You will catch plenty of small- to keeper-size bass. You can catch’em on plastic worms, slow sinkin’ Senko-type baits, and chatter-baits. As always, keep a lipless crank-bait tied on to one of your rods in case the schoolers come up around the boat.

Last Saturday, X-treme Bass Series held a tournament on the St. Johns River. Congrats to John Kremer and Earl Lytle on their win. They weighed in 5 bass that hit the scales at 24.2 pounds. They also caught the big bass of the tournament weighin’ in at 6.5 pounds. The team of Don Eady and Kenny Bivins won their tournament on the Kissimmee Chain. They were fishin’ the X-treme Bass Series as well. They hit the scales with 5 bass that weighed 21.6 pounds. The big bass of the day went to Andrew Hall whose big bass hit the scales at 7.6 pounds. So, it seems the bass fishin’ isn’t doin’ too bad in those two chains of lakes.

I would suggest you get on the water early or go late in the day so it won’t be so hot. Also, I wanted to send out congrats to John Brazzell and Josh Davis on their win on Johns Lake. They weighed in 5 bass that weighed 20.93 pounds. This is John’s and Josh’s third win of the year on the X-treme Bass Series team trail. Congrats guys on a great win.

If you are interested in fishin’ a grassroots bass tournament like the X-treme Bass Series tournament in your area, you can go on facebook and look up the divisions that are in your area of the state. You can also go to Home-Xtreme Bass Seriesxbseries.com and get additional information about the trail.

Well, folks, I wish I had more information, but with the high temperatures and the low water levels, it has kept a lot of folks home. Folks just ain’t fishin’ as much as they do in the cooler months.

I hope you have a great week and I hope to see ya on the water reel soon.

Tip of the week: Early mornin’.

Save a few and good luck!
