Among forecasts that Tropical Depression Nine will strengthen during the next 48 hours and that it will become a tropic storm today, the city released the following announcement on their Facebook page about the availability of sand and bags:
Sand and bags are available to residents at the storage yard directly south of the city fueling station located at the corner of East 8th Street and South Highland Avenue. Shovels also are available to help fill the bags.
The yard typically is open during weekdays. Residents can call Apopka Public Services Department for assistance at 407-703-1731. After hours and weekends, residents may call the city’s dispatch center at 407-703-1757.
