The Apopka baseball and softball teams are both off to strong starts in the 2025 season. The baseball team is 8-6, and the softball team is 8-1. Let’s check in on our teams coming up at the halfway mark in the season.
Baseball
As of our spring break hiatus, the Blue Darter baseball team is 8-6 and 1-1 in district matchups. The team has won three of their last six games and is ranked 148th in the state, according to MaxPreps as of Monday, March 17. Their wins are over Boone (4–3) on March 3, East River (8–1) on March 7, and The Villages Charter (6–2) on March 12. Their losses were to Timber Creek (4–2) on March 5, Dr. Phillips (5–4) on March 11, and Lake Nona (11–9) on March 13.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the baseball team is its youth. Head coach Bobby Brewer has been vocal about the team’s lack of experience, often likening their journey to on-the-job training. Despite this, the team has shown significant growth and potential, a fact that makes Brewer proud. He believes that as the season progresses, the team will only get better and more consistent.
The boys sit third in the 7A District 3 standings under Lake Brantley and West Orange and above Lake Mary, Ocoee and Seminole, according to MaxPreps as of Monday, March 17.
