Art, foliage, and fun await visitors at the 63rd annual Apopka Art and Foliage Festival next weekend.

Organized by the Apopka Woman’s Club and the city of Apopka, the Apopka Art and Foliage Festival will take place 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on April 26 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 27 at Kit Land Nelson Park, 35 S. Park Ave, Apopka.

The event will exhibit the work of juried artisans and crafters, and prominent foliage vendors from around Central Florida and beyond. There will be a tent where student artwork form community schools are showcased.

This year’s spotlight plant is the Ananas comosus, a pineapple variety known as Sugarloaf. Cherrylake Inc., is sponsoring a Bald Cypress tree giveaway.

Admission is free, but there is a $5 parking fee that goes toward the Boy Scouts who are parking the cars.

One hundred percent of the festival proceeds from the festival are given back to the community through donations and scholarships.

Visitors can satisfy their palates and musical ears with food from concession vendors, beverages from a wine and beer garden, and musical performances at the park gazebo.

For the kids, there will be a kids zone presented by Home Depot.

A not-for-profit civic organization that supports the local community, the Apopka Woman’s Club is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. The GFWC Apopka Woman’s Club’s goal is “to bring together women … in an organization where they can use their energies and abilities to benefit their community by promoting civic, cultural, educational, and charitable activities,” the club’s website states.

The Apopka Chief will feature a special section devoted to the Apopka Art and Foliage Festival in the April 25 issue. It will be packed with biographies on spotlight artisans and judges, history of the show, a map of the festival and more.
