Woman is a retired midwife, has lived in Apopka for 7 1/2 years

Christianne Dieudonne Sabourin Francois received a mayoral proclamation from Mayor Bryan Nelson declaring her 105th birthday, which is Feb. 13, as Christianne Dieudonne Sabourin Francois Day.
In the mayor’s office at Apopka City Hall on Friday, Feb. 28, the mayor read Sabourin Francois the proclamation with her family accompanying her, daughter Violayne Francois and first grandson Francois Didier Menard.
Born on Feb. 13, 1920, in Port-au-Prince. Haiti, Sabourin Francois grew up in Port-au-Prince and the Dominican Republic. She received her first communion at Altagracia Church Hiquey and was a parishioner at St. Charles Borromeo Church Parish in Carrefour, Haiti. She is fluent in French, Creole, Spanish, English and Latin for Latin Mass rites.
Sabourin Francois’s education included the Elie Dubois School in Haiti, then nursing school followed by midwifery school. She was a midwife at General Hospital in Haiti for 35 years and an obstetrics teacher at the Haiti National School of Nursing.
She was married to Andre Francois from December 28, 1944, until his death in December 1972. They are the parents of six, grandparents of 12 and great-grandparents of 13.
Sabourin Francois has lived in Apopka for the past 7 ½ years. She attends the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Apopka. Her hobbies include singing and intercessory prayers.
